TIE-DC Monthly E-Magazine - Fostering Entrepreneurship in the Mid-Atlantic

Emerging Entrepreneur Spotlight: Jim Beaupre, CEO of JB Cubed

This month TiE-DC’s spotlight features Jim Beaupre, CEO of JB Cubed (www.FedResults.com). Jim has spent close to forty years in the IT industry and his company, JB Cubed, brokers deals between emerging companies and government opportunities and develops strategy for small companies.

Jim started his career by working as a government employee for twelve years. One of his major accomplishments was a long-term software developmental project for the Department of Transportation. Next, he worked at Storage Technology, where he was in sales and, through the course of ten years with the company, worked his way up to VP; the company would be eventually acquired by Sun. He had stints at Santa Cruz Operation and Legent Corporation, which was acquired by Computer Associates. Eventually, Jim became a Consultant at Digital Equipment, where he had the chance to become familiar with the Department of Defense.

In 1997 Jim got into government contracts and formed JB Cubed, which provides small companies an opportunity to introduce their enterprise products to the government. Proof of JB Cubed’s success is in the 75 companies they have worked with. Of these, twelve have had significant events. Three of the companies were sold to Symantec, one was sold to IBM, and one had an IPO. Some of these companies that Jim represents obtain between 40 and 50% of their revenue from JB Cubed.

Jim joined TiE-DC about seven months ago, and he has participated and attended many of our events. Jim says the two things that distinguish TiE-DC from similar organizations is 1, that TiE has proven itself to have superior content and networking and 2, that the number of attendees is just right for making connections. Jim also serves as Chair of the Executive Leadership Conference where he works closely with TiE-DC Board of Director PV Puvvada who serves as Vice-Chair. TiE congratulates Jim on an upcoming deal with a company that he met through TiE-DC; according to Jim, “were it not for TiE-DC, we would never have made this connection and done business together.”
